Protective Overcoat Wire Grid Polarizers는 가시광 스펙트럼에서 s-편광 빛은 반사하고 p-편광 빛은 투과하는 데 사용됩니다. 이 폴라라이저는 단단한 보호용 코팅 처리가 된 유리 기판에 두께가 얇은 알루미늄 와이어 그리드가 부착된 구조를 이룹니다. 오버코트(overcoat)는 커버 글래스를 사용하는 기존의 Wire Grid Polarizers에 비해 더 얇고 밝은 디자인을 설계할 수 있도록 하면서 기계적 응력으로 인한 스크래치나 손상으로부터 와이어 그리드의 구조를 보호해줍니다. 이 폴라라이저 상의 보호용 코팅은 취급 및 클리닝이 바람직하지 않은 bare wire grid polarizers와 달리 손쉬운 취급 및 클리닝이 가능합니다. Protective Overcoat Wire Grid Polarizers는 성능에 미치는 영향을 최소화하면서 최대 200°C의 고온 환경에서 1000시간 이상 사용할 수 있습니다.
